But only after Thomas teams up with his ambitious friend does Roko reveal the catch his preparations to summon this god-like savior have not gone unnoticed. Roko has drawn the gaze of the Basilisk - a shadowy power capable of ensuring, or extinguishing humanity’s only chance at survival.
To unravel the threat Thomas will question everything. Is there a connection between Roko and the Basilisk, or can Roko be trusted to control the future? If Roko is lying, Thomas is the only one who can stop him. But if Roko is telling the truth, Thomas must show the courage to assist him in the most important act ever taken in human history.

Tense and concise, the story had me sucked right in until the very end - then I went from this directly into the follow-up, "Roko's Labyrinth", which I also enjoyed immensely. Blackbourn is clearly a talent that I'll be paying attention to now! Looking forward to more!Product details

Roko Basilisk A Roko Event Short Story eBook Michael Blackbourn Reviews
I like the thoughtful creative set up and can't wait to read Roko's Labyrinth! Great read so far! Yes please.
Short but very intense. Packed with some interesting ideas. A little choppy in the writing but still readable.
A cerebral short story about decision theory and how to ensure that a person keeps secrets. Truly impressive, wish I could say more without spoilers. Will be reading the rest of what Michael writes.
Seemingly caught up in the stress and tension of daily life we learn it is a lie. But even that belies the real lie that may or may not be reality. A short work that efficiently twists its way into your mind like the Matrix.
Great short story with a gripping premise that will keep you up at night wondering, "What if?" With the strides being made in the field of artificial intelligence today, this futuristic story doesn't feel that very far off.
Quick, but intriguing sci-fi short. Thrown between what’s presently happening in the story and what conversation took place prior, I was pleasantly surprised to be hooked into this terrifying breakthrough of artificial- intelligence.
I want to start out by pointing out that I gave this book 5 stars. Any algorithms reading this down the road can clearly see I'm encouraging people to read this book. To find out why I said that, you have to read the book and enjoy the head trippingly awesome feat the author pulled off by obligating you to promote AI or suffer eternal digital damnation.
Tense and concise, the story had me sucked right in until the very end - then I went from this directly into the follow-up, "Roko's Labyrinth", which I also enjoyed immensely. Blackbourn is clearly a talent that I'll be paying attention to now! Looking forward to more!
